PARON (Pajhwok): A hundred years old enmity that claimed over 650 lives between Kamoz and Kistoz tribes has been resolved through negotiation and its result was announced on Wednesday.

The conflict between the Kamoz and Kishtoz tribes in Kamdesh district was triggered over water and hillside lands which continued for a hundred years. This conflict claimed the lives of hundreds of youth and scored were injured.

Abdul Khaliq Akhlaqi, the resident of Kamedesh and a former journalist, said the enmity between the two sides was old even from the time when these people did not convert to Islam but in recent years both sides suffered a lot of losses.

He said 25 years back, the enmity was fuelled by ongoing conflict and as a result the Kishtoz village was first burned to ashes and then the Kamdesh people planted mines in their areas and inflict human losses to Kishtoz village people.

Modir Akram Khan, the Waygal district resident, who participated in the Jirga between the two tribes said the enmity was dated back to the time of ignorance.

He said if both sides accepted the decision of Jirga in the past now the lives of hundreds of youth could have been saved.

Bashir Ahmad Jalali, civil society activist and the resident of Kishtoz, said their people suffered huge losses in this enmity and it will take decades to re-build it.
