TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Continued drug addiction, illness and poverty forced Gul Rahman, Shah Pari’s husband, to commit suicide on Wednesday night and this way he ended his life.
Gul Rahman’s family who is in bad economic condition has asked the government and aid providing agencies for support and cooperation.
Shah Pari, wife of deceased Gul Rahan, during talks with Pajhwok Afghan News said: “From the past 21 years, her husband was addicted to drugs, in addition, they had severe financial problems. He suddenly committed suicide on Wednesday night and ended his life.”
She said after a lot of efforts recently, her husband stopped taking drugs but he was ill and due to financial problems she was unable to take him for the treatment.
“Now he is no more with us and even we collected money for his burial ceremony from our neighbors,” she said.
The mother of five kids, Shah Pari said she worked at a restaurant in Taloqan and earned livelihood for her kids not now she lost her husband and was worried about the future of her children ongoing winter.
She complained about the lack of attention from the aid providing agencies and termed the distribution of international aid unjust asking government and aid providing agencies for help.
Shah Pari said she often knocked the door of aid providing agencies but since she had no reference and no relations thus she was unable to get aid. She was even unable to take her ill husband to one of the hospitals in Kabul.
She lives in the limits of third police district in Taloqan and added if she was not provided support in the harsh winter she may be lost due to poverty and financial problems.
Gul Agha, one of the Shah Pari relatives, also talked about the worsening financial situation of Shah Pari and said her husband was a drug addict over the years and finally he committed suicide.
He said this family had nothing during harsh winter and asked government and aid providing agencies to support Shah Pari.
