KABUL (Pajhwok): The beggars collection committee says nearly 20,000 beggars – with 11,600 of them professional panhandlers – have been rounded up in Kabul.
The beggar collection process that began on August 13 is still ongoing in Kabul. Able-bodied male beggars capable of working will be hired for different jobs.
The deputy prime minister’s office says so far 19,827 beggars have been collected, 11,285 of them women, 1,812 men and 6,730 children.
The source said from 11,285 collected women, 4,730 of them were deserving beggars and 6,555 were professional beggars.
