KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Vice and Virtue and Complaints (MoVVC) has asked its provincial departments to share data about the polygamist government servants.
The MoVVC instructed Islamic Emirate officials about nine months ago to prevent officials from marrying second, third and fourth wives and strictly adhere to orders issued in this regard.
Maulvi Haibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban’s supreme leader, said in his decree number 6: “The MoVVC is tasked with preventing IEA officials from polygamy-related expenses and following the orders, dated 2021”.
The decree tasked MoVVC to specify those who flouted the orders and report them to the supreme leader.
The Ministry of Vice and Virtue later shared the decree with the officials concerned in all 34 provinces of the country and said: “For the implementation of the order of the supreme leader about polygamy among officials, their list must be urgently shared with the president’s office.”
The coordination office at the Ministry of Vice and Virtue was asked to share the decree with all provincial offices.
Mohammad Akif Muhajer, spokesperson for the ministry, confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News the issuance of the letter.
However, some social media users claim several officials have married second and third wives, spending huge amounts on polygamy.
