KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic ‘Emirate of Afghanistan’ (IEA) officials have termed attack on the personnel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) a cowardly act which reflected upon the defeat of the enemy.
According to Kabul Police five people were killed and some injured in the attack but Emergency Hospital said 47 injured were evacuated to the hospital from the site of blast, three injured succumbed to wounds on their way to Hospital.
Addressing the commemoration event for the departed souls of MoFA personnel, Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said: “We are happy from all the staff members and those who martyred, they were special persons with high moral, they had the will to serve the country and remained loyal. May Allah accept their martyrdom?”
“Alhamdolillah — With the grace of Allah we have no incident of military conflict in any part of the country in the past 16 months, but cowardly acts of the enemy like blasts on roadsides, in mosques and other public places reflected upon the defeat of the enemy.”
He told the attackers: “There are no foreigners in the country, there are no occupied forces, and there is no wrongdoing, no atheism then war for what reason.”
Muttaqi said: “We have a government which has good and bad aspects; believe some of the activities that I hear about make me thrilled.”
He referred to the rescuing of mine workers in Badakhshan and individuals who were stranded in snowfall in Herat by security officials.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai said: “Our deceased brothers were important people and we may not be able to find people like them in the near future.”
He told the personnel of the MoFA to refrain from biasness work in the framework of nationalism and Islam and take the country out of current troubles.
“A country that go through war for forty years has problems. If we want to make Afghanistan self-sufficient then it is the duty of everyone to work hard.”
“Afghanistan borders are open and nobody stop anyone from going abroad but going abroad is not a solution, honor is in the country,” he added.
