KABUL (Pajhwok): Torkham crossing between Afghanistan and Pakistan has been reopened for limited pubic movement but remained closed for transit and trade purpose, according to a statement on Friday.
The Information and Cultural Affairs Department in eastern Nangarhar province said the reopening of the gate is confined adding that public movement between the two sides had been allowed.
The statement asked people to refrain from travelling to Torkham.
Torkham gate was recently closed after a brief clash between Afghan and Pakistan forces. Local officials did not specify reason behind the closure of the gate but added that Pakistani side failed to implement the pledges they earlier made.
A high level Pakistani delegation also travelled to Kabul and met the prime minister’s economic affairs aide Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar and other key government officials.
