PARON (Pajhwok): Tourists from different parts of the country who recently visited eastern Nuristan province have demanded the constriction of Nuristan-Kunar Road besides addressing others issues.
They termed Nuristan province the best tourism spot in the country but added that basic facilities required for the tourists were not available in the mountainous province.
Haji Rafiullah, who arrived in Nuristan along with some of his friends from Kandahar’s Panjwai district, said they faced with many problems on their way but when they arrived in the lash green Nuristan and Kunar province all their tiredness removed.
He said he loved the natural beauty of Nuristan but the dilapidated condition of the road hampered their vehicle and they witness many issues on their way.
He asked the government to construct the road leading to Nuristan so that tourists could easily travel to the most beautiful province and get full pleasure from the natural beauty of Nuristan.
He is leading the 10-member group from Kandahar and said there was no proper guest house for the visitors adding they had to bring tents with themselves for the overnight stay.
He said weather in Nuristan was cold and staying overnight in a tent was difficult.
He believed if Afghan investors invest in Nuristan’s tourism sector it would benefit them because there was not hoteling business and other tourism facilities.
Nuristan Information Department Director Mawlavi Samiullah Haqbayan said this time they had great achievements comparing to the past.
He said six boats provided by the Afghan tour organization were settled in the Nuristan dam water reservoir to promote boating.
He added they had plans to create more parks and visiting places, adding that with the passage of time issues related to tourist would be resolved.
Nuristan Public Works Department Director Malwavi Ahmad Nabi said bridges and culverts of Nuristan-Kunar Road from Stap to Tanik area would be built this year, a pledge made by the Public Works Ministry.
He added the provincial authorities regularly graveled the road but due to torrential rains and freezing the road condition deteriorated rapidly.
