JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two families reconciled and ended their 30 years old enmity in the Haska Mena district of eastern Nangarhar province after mediation of tribal elders and local officials.
Originating from a land dispute, the enmity claimed the lives of two persons on each side.
Lal Hatim Qarar, the Haska Mena district chief, the 30-year-old enmity between the families of Umara Khan and Khan in Guzara area turned into friendship with the mediation of tribal elders and local officials.
He said the two families forgave each other and vowed to live in peace.
Umara Khan, elder of one of the reconciling families, thanked the tribal elders and local officials for their efforts to end their enmity.
A member of the jirga, Malak Anwar, said the two families agreed to reconcile without any condition.
He said if any of the two families violated the truce, they would be punished by local people and the government.
Many such enmities have recently been resolved among families in other districts of Nangarhar province through mediation of tribal elders.
