<p style="text-align: justify;">JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two families reconciled and ended their 30 years old enmity in the Haska Mena district of eastern Nangarhar province after mediation of tribal elders and local officials.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Originating from a land dispute, the enmity claimed the lives of two persons on each side.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Lal Hatim Qarar, the Haska Mena district chief, the 30-year-old enmity between the families of Umara Khan and Khan in Guzara area turned into friendship with the mediation of tribal elders and local officials.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">He said the two families forgave each other and vowed to live in peace.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Umara Khan, elder of one of the reconciling families, thanked the tribal elders and local officials for their efforts to end their enmity.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A member of the jirga, Malak Anwar, said the two families agreed to reconcile without any condition.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">He said if any of the two families violated the truce, they would be punished by local people and the government.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Many such enmities have recently been resolved among families in other districts of Nangarhar province through mediation of tribal elders.</p>
