Police recover 110 illegal weapons in Nangarhar  

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Police in eastern Nangarhar province have collected 110 light and heavy weapons from unauthorized persons last year, an official has said.

Police Spokesperson Abdul Baseer Zabuli told reporters on Thursday that police have launched operation to collect weapons from unauthorized groups in different parts of the province.

He said during the operation 110 light and heavy weapons had been rounded up.

Zabuli said: “The Nangarhar police have conducted operation in Jalalabad City and 22 districts and recovered 110 light and heavy weapons such as Kalashnikovs, machine gun, rocket launcher, pistols, nigh time binoculars and 11,000 bullets of different rifles.”

He said the weapons had been handed over to the Ministry of Interior and after rehabilitation it would be provided to the security forces.

Local people have welcomed security force operation to collect weapons from unauthorized armed groups.
