MEHTHARLAM (Pajhwok): Two water supply projects at a cost of seven million afghanis have been completed and put into service in the Alishang district of eastern Laghman province, an official said on Monday.

Mohammad Zahir Zarkmar, director of rural rehabilitation and development, told Pajhwok Afghan News the two projects completed at a cost of seven million afghanis funded by United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

He said one of the water supply networks had the capacity to store 40 cubic meters of water and the other 20 cubic meters of water and would supply it to 317 families.

Mohammad Jan Hamdard, a resident of the area, expressed happiness with the inauguration of these projects.

He urged the government to provide facilities for irrigating farmlands.
