KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) has established 35 educational centers across the country to support children and youth who cannot afford to study in private schools.

ARCS wrote on its X handle on Tuesday about 233 students were enrolled in these centers in Jalalabad city, capital of eastern Nangarhar province, alone during the past three months.

It said these students were learning different subjects such Islamic, literacy, mathematics, English language and computer.

It added so far 45 students have graduated from these centers in Jalalabad city.

The acting government suspended girls’ education above sixth grade on March 23, 2022 and then extended the ban to women’s university education in December the same year.

The government at the time had said the ban was temporarily and a solution would be found to it in the light of Islamic Sharia.
