KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority (AFDA) says nearly 600 tons of low quality drugs and food were collected and destroyed during the last six months.
The authority says still about 30 percent of low-quality food and drugs are smuggled into the country.
Dr. Javed Hajir, AFDA spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News they torched nearly 295 tons of poor-quality food and medicine seized in provinces and about 300 tons seized in Kabul during the past six months.
He added low-quality and expired drugs could cause vein blockage and even death.
