1200 students graduate from technical, vocational education

KABUL (Pajhwok): Students graduated from institutes related to the Department of Technical and Vocational Education will be offered government jobs, an official said on Thursday.

Head of Technical and Vocational Education Department Ghulam Haidar Shahamat said 1,200 students graduated from different fields on Thursday.

Addressing the graduation ceremony here, Shahamat said the main purpose of the department was to alleviate poverty and introduce professionals to the market.

He asked the graduating students to serve the country and said: “We pin our hopes on these young students”.

Shahamat said: “These students should be indebted to the country that spent money on them, you should not go abroad after learning skills with the nation's money”.

According to Shahamat: “Educated people who have gone abroad are engaged in heavy labor work, but you should stay and rebuild your country”.

He said professionals were needed in fields of agriculture, mines, railways and road construction.

Kabul governor Mawlavi Aminullah Obaid on the occasion said: “Our responsibility is provide jobs to the graduated students. Amirul Mominin has ordered providing education and other rights to citizens”.

Acting Refugees and Repatriation Minister Khalil Rahman Haqqani said the graduated students should be given jobs and the opportunity to get higher education.
