KABUL (Pajhwok): About 339 Afghan nationals have reached Toronto on a charter flight from Pakistan, says Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
IRCC wrote on its X handle: “Today (Wednesday), 339 Afghan nationals arrived in Toronto on a charter flight from Pakistan. They will continue their journey to approximately 40 communities across Canada, including Calgary, St. John’s and Windsor.”
According to IRCC, Canada has met its goal of welcoming at least 40,000 refugees and vulnerable Afghans since August 2021, and work continues to process eligible applications already received.
In the last two years, Canada has transferred most of the Afghan immigrants from Pakistan, Tajikistan, and the United Arab Emirates via charter flights.
