PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Local people contributed 10 million afghanis to the Department of Education of central Logar province this year to improve the education affairs.
Education Department spokesman Shahpur Arab told Pajhwok Afghan News that businesspeople, well- off individuals and charitable organizations had donated the money to help the department address problems plaguing the education sector.
The money was collected in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, and some districts.
Shahpur Arab said: “Education lovers contributed this amount to constructing and repairing school buildings, boundary walls, digging wells, installing solar systems, providing free education courses and allocating land for schools.”
He appreciated those contributing to the cause and called on businessmen and rich people of the province to assist the education department.
Khairullah, a resident of the provincial capital, told Pajhwok that the aid from the people had a positive outcome.
He said every citizen should cooperate in improving the education process in whatever way they could.
Two months ago, Mohammad Akbar Atal, a resident of Pul-i-Alam, had constructed a school building at a cost of one million afghanis. About 400 students are studying in the school.
