Italy pledges $3.1 million in aid to Afghanistan fund

KABUL (Pajhwok): Italy has pledged contributing $3.1 million to the United Nations-established Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan (STFA), the fund said on Thursday.

The UN Special Trust Fund announced that it was the first time Italy was providing aid to Afghanistan through the fund.

STFA said this aid would be spent on women's empowerment, climate change and durable solutions to problems of displaced people and returnees in the country.

It comes after Denmark announced $7.29 million in aid to the UN Special Trust Fund.
