KABUL (Pajhwok): Nearly eight million Afghans have been migrated to neighbouring and European countries in the past almost five years, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said on Friday.
IOM in a report stated: “Since 2020 nearly eight million people have migrated in which 85 percent people have migrated to neighbouring countries such as Iran and nearly one million have migrated to European countries, 75 percent Afghans who migrated to Iran were because of the lack of working opportunities.”
The report said in 2023, IOM registered nearly one million Afghan refugees returning back to Afghanistan, 70 percent of these migrants did not have legal residential documents while 60 percent of them were deported.
But the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has not yet spoken about the IOM report.
