Long-term enmity between Paktia, Paktika tribes resolved

KABUL (Pajhwok): Long-lasting enmities and disputes between some tribes in southeastern Paktia and Paktika provinces on the ownership of lands and mountains have been resolved and these tribes have reconciled, a statement said on Saturday.

On the mediation of acting Interior Minister Serajuddin Haqqani, acting Refugees Minister Khalilurrahman Haqqani and Zadran Tribes elder Haji Ibrahim Haqqani a land and mountain ownership dispute between some tribes from the Paktia Gerdai Zerai, Wazai and Paktika Nakai district has been resolved.

A statement from the Ministry of Interior said that one dispute was 80 years and another was 100 years, the two disputes resulted in the killing of over 100 people from the two sides.

The statement said that mediators after discussion and consultations between the Sarkhel, Krekhel, Shang, Drawar, Ayokhel and Makhel tribes recommended reconciliation and then wrote the resolutions letters.

Addressing a reconciliation ceremony, acting Interior Minister Serajuddin Haqqani said: “With the help of Almight Allah 80 years old enmities have come to an end and this reconciliation was a huge step for the happiness of Almighty Allah and Afghan nation’s unity.”

He hailed the people of this region and recalled their sacrifices and struggles for independence.

Acting Refugees Minister Khalil Rahman Haqqani said: “When the past enmities are forgotten, and amnesty is declared then if someone repeat enmity or shed blood he is criminal in front of Allah almighty.”

At the end all sides hailed the resolution and people who struggled and played role in ensuring reconciliation between these tribes.
