KABUL (Pajhwok): Germany deported 28 Afghan nationals to Afghanistan on Friday for the first time since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) in August 2021.
According to media reports, these individuals were described by government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit as convicted criminals. However, Hebestreit did not provide specific details about their offenses.
Interior Minister Nancy Faeser labeled the deportations as a matter of security for Germany.
This action comes in the wake of a recent knife attack in Solingen, where the suspect, a Syrian asylum seeker, was allegedly involved.
The Syrian was meant to be deported to Bulgaria last year but evaded removal and has now been detained on charges of murder.
