Repair work launched on Bamyan airport

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Reconstruction work has been launched on the airport in central Bamyan province, which is estimated to cost 40 million afghanis, an official announced on Monday.

Abdul Saboor Farzan Saighani, the provincial governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the reconstruction work kicked off today (Monday) in the presence of Governor Maulvi Abdullah Sarhadi, general director of airports at the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) Maulvi Abdul Sattar Gharwal and other local officials.

He said the project would cost more than 40 million afghanis provided by MoTCA.

He added the project would take eight months to complete.

About 600 metre destroyed areas of the airport would be repaired, he explained.

Governor Sarhadi said some areas of the airport had been destroyed which caused disruption in flights.

He assured the problem would be resolved with execution of the project.
