GARDIZ (Pajhwok): The Agriculture Department of southeastern Paktia, in cooperation with aid organization, has started distributing improved wheat seeds and fertilizers to over 6,000 farmers across the province.
Maulvi Mohammad Amin Hasimi, Director of the Agriculture Department, said each farmer would receive 50 kilograms of wheat seeds, 50 kilograms of black fertilizer, and 50 kilograms of white fertilizer.
He added that the wheat seeds being distributed are intended for spring planting.
"Today, with the help of CARE Afghanistan, we began distributing refined wheat seeds to 6,100 farmers. These seeds will be planted in the spring season, which will boost the farmers' yields," Hasimi said.
Meanwhile, several farmers expressed their satisfaction with the seed and fertilizer distribution and called for further support from the authorities.
Pir Mohammad, a farmer from Ibrahimkhil village in Gardez, said, "These are very good seeds. Previously, others in our village planted them, and the harvest was excellent. We would also like to receive seeds for other crops."
According to the Agriculture Department, they had previously distributed improved seeds and fertilizers to around 14,000 farmers.
