IEA committed to expanding religious, modern education: Stanikzai

KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai says the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is committed to expanding and strengthening religious and modern sciences within the framework of Islamic Sharia.

He said this at a meeting with several religious scholars here, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in a statement.

It said the scholars voiced satisfaction with the Islamic system, security, economic self-sufficiency and ongoing reconstruction efforts.

They also expressed hope for the maintaining of the Islamic system and urged the provision of basic amenities of life to residents of some regions and resolution of existing issues.

For his part, Stanikzai called the role of scholars as a connecting bridge between the nation and the government.

In response to scholars’ demands, the deputy foreign minister said: "This country and its people have suffered, endured, and been devastated by nearly half a century of wars. Our efforts are focused on ensuring that our nation does not fall victim to these adversities again, that their problems are addressed, and that together we build a prosperous, stable, and self-reliant Afghanistan in every sector."

He emphasized the importance of strengthening the education sector, saying that education is a crucial to a country’s development and a necessity of the modern era.

He reiterated that the caretaker government was committed to expansding and strengthening religious and modern sciences within the framework of Islamic Sharia and was working on a plan that considers all needs.
