Panjsher being connected to fiber optic network

PARAKH (Pajhwok): The national fiber optic network project will be launched in central Panjsher province, the Telecommunications and Information Technology Department said on Wednesday.

In a statement, CITD said Director Abdul Hamid Noori explained practical work on the project will be launched next month.

Initially, the project was considered impossible, but now it will be implemented with CITD efforts and special support of Acting Minister Maulvi Najibullah Hayat Haqqani, the statement said.

According to the statement, the project will cover a 36-kilometer route from Gulbahar to Bazarak, and will provide fiber optic services in Shatal, Anaba and Rukha districts of the province.

This project will cost about 100,000 million afghanis and people will be provided jobs during its implementation, the CITD explained. After completion of this project, there will be a significant reduction in internet rates and the cost of telephone calls.

The project is being implemented by telecom companies Afghan Wireless, Afghan Telecom and ICG.
