KABUL (Pajhwok): The Directorate of Physical Education and Sports in northern Balkh province says a 14-member team of mountaineers has reached the highest point of the mountain in Charkent district of northern Balkh province.
In a statement, the directorate said a 14-member team of the Balkh Mountaineering Federation reached the 3000-meter-high peak of the mountain in the Charkent district.
The source said this one-day expedition and physical training was conducted in preparation for the national games to be held in Kabul, aimed at enhancing the athletes' readiness.
The Charkent district mountain is located 57 kilometers from the provincial capital, Mazar-i-Sharif, and is famous for its cold and beautiful weather.
