KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan athlete Farzad Mansouri has won a gold medal by defeating four opponents at the British Taekwondo International Open, a G1-ranked global contest.
Mansouri told Pajhwok Afghan News the G1 Championship took place in Manchester on March 22, with participants from Europe, the United States, Asia and Africa.
He he triumphed over two English competitors, one from Togo and another from Puerto Rico, to secure the gold medal.
A total of 585 athletes took part in the event, said Mansouri, who currently residing in Manchester.
Mansouri had previously earned a silver medal at the Belgian Open Taekwondo Championships on March 16, overcoming rivals from France and the Netherlands to finish second.
