KABUL (Pajhwok): The fourth edition of the European Humanitarian Forum (EHF) is being held today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday) in Brussels, jointly hosted by the European Commission and Poland.
The European Union Delegation in Afghanistan wrote on its X handle that, like the previous three editions, this year’s forum was being organised alongside the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting.
It added: “#EHF2025 19.05-20.05 will address root causes of the #Afghanistan crisis and boost regional cooperation for innovative and sustainable solutions.”
The third edition, held in 2024, had convened amid rising global humanitarian needs, shrinking humanitarian space, increased politicisation of aid and growing vulnerabilities due to climate change.
This year’s forum comes at a time when US President Donald Trump, after returning to office, has implemented controversial decisions to reduce humanitarian aid to foreign countries.
The move has sparked serious concerns among aid organisations and vulnerable nations, as the United States had long been one of the world’s largest humanitarian donors.
