KABUL (Pajhwok): The suspect accused of murdering Kobra Rezaei, an Afghan migrant residing in Iran, has been arrested and reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation, say Iranian authorities.
The Young Journalists Club cited Seyed Akbar Arabi, the police commander of Pishva district in Tehran, as saying that the suspect was identified and swiftly arrested through coordinated intelligence and operational efforts by law enforcement.
He added: “Following the discovery of the young woman’s body in one of the areas of Pishva district, a case was opened by the criminal investigation department, and a specialized inquiry was launched.”
Arabi confirmed that the suspect confessed to the murder during questioning and, after the completion of the initial investigation, was transferred to prison.
Reports indicate that Kobra Rezaei was abducted on her way to work and later brutally murdered.
Earlier, the Afghan Embassy in Tehran had called on Iranian judicial and legal authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrator to justice.
