KABUL (Pajhwok): A Norwegian delegation will soon visit Afghanistan to assess bilateral relations between Kabul and Oslo, Norway’s chargé d’affaires in Kabul announced.
Per Albert Ilsaas made the announcement during a meeting with Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in a statement said.
According to the ministry, the two sides discussed a range of bilateral and regional issues.
Muttaqi welcomed Norway’s acceptance of a diplomat from the caretaker Afghan government, describing it as a positive step toward building trust and strengthening ties.
He also praised Norway’s constructive role in facilitating Afghanistan’s engagement with Western countries.
The foreign minister expressed concern over the current regional situation and reaffirmed the Afghan government’s readiness to assist the people of Iran in line with Islamic and humanitarian responsibilities.
For his part, Per Albert Ilsaas outlined Norway’s position on recent regional developments and shared concerns about their potential impact on Afghanistan.
He confirmed that a Norwegian delegation will travel to Kabul soon to review relations with officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
