Afghan Karate team heads to Russia for international event

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Karate Federation (AKF) announced that three national athletes in the Kyokushin-kan style have departed for Russia to compete in an international tournament.

The federation said on its Facebook page that the athletes left today (Thursday) to take part in the “Cup of Nations” event.

AKF added that the athletes will compete in both the Kumite and Kata categories against international opponents.

The global tournament, featuring Afghanistan among its participants, is set to begin tomorrow (Friday) in Moscow and will run until 2 March.
