KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) says that during solar year 1404, around 6.2 million domestic tourists and nearly 10,000 foreign tourists visited Afghanistan’s recreational and historical sites.
In a statement, the ministry said that during the same period, 135 handicraft companies were provided opportunities to participate in various exhibitions free of charge or at discounted rates.
It added that 656 tourism and pilgrimage companies were issued new licences, while the licences of 146 such companies were renewed.
The ministry further stated that inspections were carried out on 25 guesthouses serving tourists, as well as more than 3,000 tourism and pilgrimage companies. It also noted that visas of 148 foreign tourists were extended during the year.
