MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Minister of Borders and Tribal Affairs Mullah Noorullah Noori says anyone harbouring intentions of aggression against Afghanistan or interfering in its internal affairs should learn from the past.
He made the remarks at a gathering in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, on Sunday.
The event was attended by the Balkh governor, provincial officials, religious scholars, public representatives, students and local residents.
Noori noted that Afghans throughout history had not allowed anyone to rule over their land.
“If anyone interferes in our internal affairs or harbours intentions of aggression against Afghanistan, they should learn from the past,” he said.
He added that Afghanistan’s economy had strengthened and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), through firm determination, had achieved self-sufficiency in several areas.
He also described Afghanistan as a secure country at both regional and international levels, with its political and economic relations steadily expanding.
Sheikh Noor Mohammad Haqqani, deputy minister at the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue, Prevention of Vice and Hearing of Complaints, described the past four decades as a period of hardship for Afghans, while praising their patience and resilience.
“Before the re-establishment of the IEA, differences among ethnic groups had reached a peak, but now, praise be to Allah, all Afghans enjoy mutual respect,” he said.
Balkh Governor Mullah Mohammad Yousuf Wafa said the IEA was a system that had emerged from the people and valued public views within the framework of Islamic Sharia.
Elders at the gathering described the current unity in the country as unprecedented and said people had confidence in the IEA.
