ASQA rejects 26.6 tonnes of substandard batteries at Farahi port

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority (ASQA) says it has rejected a shipment of substandard batteries at Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi port and returned it to the exporting country.

In a statement, ASQA said technical staff at the Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi Standards and Quality Department identified the low-quality consignment, weighing 26.6 tonnes, during an inspection and sent it back.

Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi port is located on the border with Iran.

The authority stressed that the process of verifying and controlling the quality of imported goods is continuing in a transparent, regular and strict manner at all ports across the country.

It added that there will be zero tolerance for the import of substandard and potentially harmful goods that could affect public health.
