KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority (ASQA) says more than 25 tonnes of substandard bitumen membrane (izogam) have been returned to the exporting country through the Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi border crossing.
In a statement, the authority said that during ongoing inspections of imported construction materials, 25.1 tonnes of izogam were rejected at the port for failing to meet national quality standards.
ASQA added that quality control and inspection of construction materials are being carried out continuously and strictly, and that no substandard goods will be allowed into the country.
It also noted that on Saturday around 70 tonnes of scrap and low-quality iron were rejected at the Islam Qala border crossing.
