KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC) says private sector representatives from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have signed 10 cooperation agreements worth $112 million.
In a statement, the ministry said the agreements were signed on the sidelines of the “Trade Connectivity” meeting and business-to-business sessions between Afghan and Uzbek private sector representatives.
The event was attended by Mawlawi Shahabuddin Saqib, Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration, and Amonbay Orynbayev, head of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan.
Mawlawi Saqib referred to recent visits by Uzbek officials to Afghanistan and Afghan officials to Uzbekistan, describing them as a sign of constructive engagement and expanding economic cooperation between the two sides.
He added: “During the visits of governors from the Republic of Uzbekistan to Afghanistan, numerous agreements worth millions of dollars were signed between the private sectors of the two countries, and the level of trade between the two countries has also increased.”
He emphasized the important role of the private sectors of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan in strengthening and expanding bilateral economic and trade relations.
It is also worth noting that an exhibition of Uzbek products was inaugurated in Mazar-I-Sharif by Mawlawi Shahabuddin Saqib and Amonbay Orynbayev.
