KABUL (Pajhwok): The Minister of Urban Development and Housing, Mawlawi Najibullah Hayat Haqqani, has approved and signed the detailed plan for a special township for earthquake-affected people from eastern Kunar province.

According to a statement from the ministry, the township has been designed on 1,000 jeribs of land in the Gambiri area of Nangarhar province, with a total of 1,511 residential plots planned.

The statement added that the detailed plan includes mosques, green areas, parks, schools, public service zones, internal roads, and other essential facilities, in line with urban planning principles and standard engineering requirements, to ensure a suitable and comfortable living environment for residents.

Mawlawi Najibullah Hayat Haqqani said the implementation of the township would play an important role in restoring normal life for earthquake-affected families, promoting organized urban development, and establishing standard housing facilities.

The ministry said it remains committed, in line with the leadership’s directive, to expanding and accelerating development projects aimed at providing shelter, basic services, and a safe life for families affected by natural disasters.
