Kabul (Pajhwok): Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has strongly condemned the killing of three Afghan migrants who were burned alive in Italy and has urged Italian authorities to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.

According to Italian authorities, the victims—three Afghan nationals and one Pakistani citizen—were killed in a brutal attack in the Amendoalara area of Cosenza province. The four migrants were allegedly burned alive inside a vehicle.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred on Monday evening near a fuel station.

Italian prosecutors have announced the arrest of two Pakistani nationals on charges of the intentional murder of the four migrants. Authorities said that both the victims and the suspects had been employed as seasonal agricultural workers.

In an official statement, Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry described the attack as a “criminal and barbaric act,” saying that the three Afghan migrants were deliberately set on fire and killed.

The ministry condemned the incident in the strongest terms and called on Italian authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, prosecute those responsible, and take all necessary measures to ensure justice for the victims and their families.

It also stressed the importance of safeguarding the lives, dignity, security, and fundamental rights of Afghan migrants living in Italy and other countries.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also denounced the attack, calling it a “horrific crime,” and vowed that Italy would not back down in the face of violence and brutality. Two Pakistani nationals have been taken into custody in connection with the case.
