KABUL (Pajhwok): The Commission for Addressing Refugees’ Problems says that 616 returnee migrant families, comprising 3,270 individuals, returned to the country through four crossings points, while assistance was provided to 551 families and 532 families were transported to various provinces.
Deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, shared the commission’s daily report on his X account on Monday.
According to the report, 513 families, comprising 2,778 individuals, returned and were registered through the Torkham crossing in eastern Nangarhar province.
The commission said 448 of these families, totalling 2,485 individuals, were transported to the provinces of Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman, and Kabul. More than 2.02 million afghanis were allocated to cover transportation costs.
It added that 4.182 million afghanis in cash assistance were distributed to 504 families at Torkham. Health and telecommunications services were also provided at the Omari Camp.
Meanwhile, 59 families, comprising 320 individuals, returned through the Spin Boldak crossing in southern Kandahar province.
Officials said nine of these families, consisting of 42 individuals, were transported to Kabul, while more than 97,000 afghanis were provided for transport expenses.
The report added that 188,000 afghanis in assistance were distributed to 22 families at Spin Boldak, where food, health, and telecommunications services were also provided.
At the Silk Bridge crossing in Nimroz province, 21 families, comprising 77 individuals, returned to the country. Cash assistance of 16,000 afghanis was provided to two families, while 197 individuals received health services.
At the Islam Qala crossing in western Herat province, 23 families, comprising 95 individuals, returned to Afghanistan. A total of 166,000 afghanis in assistance was distributed among all 23 families.
The report further stated that the Transfer and Transportation Committee transported 75 families, comprising 425 individuals, from Kabul to various provinces and provided 326,440 afghanis in transportation support.
Overall, 616 families, comprising 3,270 individuals, returned to the country; 532 families, totalling 2,952 individuals, were transported to different provinces; and assistance was provided to 551 families.
