54 migrants, Including 15 Afghans held at Polish-Lithuanian border

KABUL (Pajhwok): Polish border police have announced the detention of 54 migrants, including 15 Afghans, while they were attempting to enter the country “illegally” from the Lithuanian border.

In a statement posted on X on Friday, Polish border police said the group included 15 Afghans, 30 Pakistani nationals, and nine Bangladeshi citizens.

The statement said: “An attempt to illegally cross the Polish-Lithuanian border was prevented; a group of 54 migrants intending to enter Poland was detained.”

According to the statement, the individuals will be returned to the Lithuanian side after the completion of administrative procedures.

Polish border police added that the operation was carried out in cooperation with border forces and officers of the country’s National Revenue Administration and customs services.

The police emphasized that strict border measures will continue, saying Polish authorities remain firmly committed to preventing illegal crossings into the country.
