KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority (ASQA) says it has returned 11 wagons of substandard cement to the exporting country at Hairatan port.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the authority said that, as part of efforts to prevent the entry of low-quality goods into the country, 11 wagons of cement weighing a total of 748 tonnes were rejected and returned through Hairatan port.
It added that the cement was declared substandard after laboratory testing, as it failed to meet national standards and quality requirements and was therefore not permitted to enter domestic markets.
The authority said it continues to prevent the import of substandard goods and is taking practical measures to ensure quality, safety and consumer confidence.
