KABUL (Pajhwok): A pilot and a naval officer were killed when a Pakistan Air Force training aircraft crashed near the city of Mardan on Monday, according to media reports.
Geo News, citing the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), reported that the aircraft went down during a routine training flight.
The victims were identified as Pakistan Air Force pilot Muhammad Qasim Abdullah and Pakistan Navy officer Taha Abbasi.
The ISPR said the Air Force command had constituted a board of inquiry to determine the cause of the crash.
Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir and several senior military commanders expressed grief over the incident and extended their condolences to the families of the victims.
The crash occurred five days after a Pakistan Army helicopter went down near Muzaffarabad, killing all those on board.
