SHEBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The Telecommunications and Information Technology Department in northern Jawzjan says 11 new “Salam” telecom network sites have been inaugurated in seven districts of the province, bringing services to more than 7,000 families.

Mawlavi Sanaullah Masoom, head of the department, said the sites were launched to expand telecom coverage, strengthen communication infrastructure and improve public access to telecom services in the districts of Faizabad, Mingajik, Mardyan, Khanqah, Khamab, Qush Tepa and Darzab.

He said the activation of the 11 sites has enabled more than 7,000 families across Jawzjan to benefit from improved communication and information services.

According to Masoom, the project cost around $1.5 million, which was funded by the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology.

Meanwhile, Jawzjan Governor Mawlavi Abdullah Sarhadi said at the inauguration ceremony that expanding telecom services is among the essential needs of the people, adding that access to reliable communication services plays an important role in economic, social and cultural development.

He said the newly activated sites would help reduce telecom challenges faced by residents of the mentioned districts and provide faster and more reliable communication facilities.

Sarhadi also called on officials of the Salam telecom network to continue efforts to improve service quality, resolve technical issues and expand coverage in remote areas.
