KABUL (Pajhwok): An Omani diplomatic delegation has arrived in Tehran to discuss measures for managing maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state media reported on Saturday.

The delegation arrived in the Iranian capital on Friday for talks with officials on mechanisms to regulate vessel movement through the strategic waterway, the state-run IRNA news agency reported.

IRNA said the visit was part of ongoing consultations between Iran and Oman aimed at developing arrangements for the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

The report did not provide details about the Omani officials included in the delegation.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with his Omani counterpart, Badr Albusaidi, on Friday, IRNA reported.

The two ministers discussed regional developments, maritime security and the movement of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.

They also stressed the importance of maintaining maritime security, strengthening regional cooperation and taking measures to prevent further escalation while promoting peace and stability in the region.
