KABUL (Pajhwok): At least five people were killed and more than 20 others injured in Russian missile strikes on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on Thursday, a media report said.
Reuters reported that the attacks were carried out in the early hours of Thursday and targeted various buildings and facilities.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said people were trapped in a residential building and fires broke out at multiple locations. He said several non-residential facilities, warehouses and a children’s hospital were also damaged in the attacks.
Parts of Kyiv also experienced power outages, according to the report.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said earlier this month that he had presented proposals to US negotiators to end the war and had repeatedly called for more interceptor missiles to counter Russian missile attacks.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow had not yet received a specific proposal for a new meeting with US negotiators, but was ready to hold such a meeting if necessary.
