KABUL (Pajhwok): Global oil prices rose after Yemen’s Houthis claimed they had attacked Saudi Aramco facilities in Riyadh and the Khurais area with ballistic missiles and drones.
Reuters reported that Brent crude rose 81 cents, or 0.79 percent, to $103.06 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) gained 46 cents, or 0.50 percent, to $91.57.
The Houthis said the attacks were in response to Saudi-led coalition strikes on Yemen. They claimed around 50 air and missile strikes had been carried out over the previous 12 hours.
Saudi authorities did not immediately confirm the Houthi claims, Reuters reported.
Oil prices later fell as higher Middle Eastern exports and a G7 decision to release 100 million barrels from emergency reserves eased concerns over global supply.
Aramco is Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company and one of the world’s largest energy producers.
