KABUL (Pajhwok): US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff says his country will host delegations from Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and 11 in an effort to end the war between Moscow and Kyiv.
Witkoff said on Monday that the talks would focus on ending the Russia-Ukraine war, discussing post-war security arrangements and reducing tensions, Reuters reported.
He said the new Abu Dhabi talks would cover “post-war security agreements, de-escalation, humanitarian measures and ending the war”.
US negotiators have been seeking a breakthrough in the long-running conflict before the onset of winter. The last US-mediated peace talks took place in February, before the United States and Israel launched a war against Iran.
Meanwhile, a senior US official told Reuters that Witkoff and Jared Kushner were expected to represent the United States as its senior negotiators at the meeting.
The official also said US negotiators would hold working-level meetings with representatives of France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the European Union and NATO in Brussels this week.
The previous round of US-mediated peace talks between Russia and Ukraine was held in February this year.
