KHOST CITY (PAN): Four people, including a quick reaction force commander, were killed in a suicide attack in the southeastern province of Khost on Saturday, an official said.
Col. Zahir, two policemen and a civilian were killed in the explosion, which wounded 23 others, a doctor at the Khost Civil Hospital told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The injured were under treatment, Dr. Hidayatullah Hamidi said, adding they were in stable condition.
The blast took place when Col. Zahir was entering the provincial police headquarters in Khost City, said Javed, the commander’s son.
As usual, the Taliban asserted responsibility for the attack, saying a fighter named Abdul Hamid carried out the suicide bombing.
Thirteen Afghan and foreign troops were killed and 18 others injured, the insurgent movement claimed, saying the bomber wore a military uniform.
