Computerised NIC distribution centre opened in Pul-i-Charkhi Prison

 

KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Census and Information Organisation in coordination with the Prisoners Affairs Authority (PAA) have inaugurated a computerised National Identity Card (NIC) facility in the Pul-i-Charkhi Prisoner of capital Kabul, a statement said on Saturday.

High ranking officials from both institutions were present during the opening ceremony of the facility. Prisoner director thanked the Census Authority for distributing the computerised NIC among prisoners which is their basic right.

“The distribution of electronic IDs is critical to reforming prisons, which identifies the exact identities and figures of prisoners in the country, and also helps to ensure security, prevent the activities of criminal groups, prevent the falsification of identities and falsify documents,” he said.

“It will greatly enhance their citizenship rights and needs, and will help the government identify needs, major national programs, economic, social, and environmental planning, prevent corruption, ensure security, reduce crime, and identify citizens,” he said.

Twenty employees will be serving in the facility with the capacity to distribute 350 NICs daily.
