KABUL (Pajhwok): Tajikistan has promised solid support for international efforts to make the Afghan peace process a success.

The Afghan reconciliation leader was assured of strong backing from Dushanbe by Tajikistan’s Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda on Monday.

Chairman High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) Chairman Dr. Abdullah Abdullah met the host premier soon after his arrival in the Ventral Asian country.

Abdullah hailed his talks with Rasulzoda as friendly and constructive. The discussions focused on the Afghan peace process, Doha talks and regional support for peace.

“We discussed bilateral relations. He assured me of his country’s full support for the (Afghan) peace efforts,” Abdullah tweeted after the meeting.

Abdullah is leading a delegation to the neighbouring country on a two-day visit for talks on issues related to the peace process.

In a bid to drum up regional support, the HCNR chairman recently visited Turkey, India, Pakistan and Iran.

Earlier, Abdullah met Tajikistan’s House of Representatives Speaker Mohammad Taher Zakerzadeh

“We exchanged views on the Afghan peace process, Tajikistan and regional support and bilateral relations,” the visiting leader tweeted.
