KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Some residents of southeastern Khost province have complained of low-quality mobile phone and internet services.
Inhabitants of some areas in Khost City, the provincial capital, and Zazai Maidan, Bak, Nadir Shah Kot, Musakhel, Spera and Qalandar districts say internet and mobile services had deteriorated recently.
Shamir Khan, hailing from Nadir Shah Kot district, told Pajhwok Afghan News they were unhappy with internet and mobile services these days.
“Telecommunication services have been down in Khost province. It doesn’t work the way it did in the past,” he grumbled.
Arin Shakib, who belongs to the Lakano area of Khost City, protested they could not hear callers due to poor services provided by companies. He asked relevant authorities to address the issue on priority. “We are irked by low-quality internet and could not contact people over the phone as well. We could not send a message or a photo to others,” he explained.
Khost Information Director Shabir Ahmad Usmani told Pajhwok Afghan News telecommunication companies had been frequently asked to improve their services and solve the problems faced by the public.
The problem was mostly caused by the Salaam Network, which did not have technical equipment to improve its services, he said.
According to some reports available with Pajhwok. 13 single signal towers of Salaam Network are not functioning in Khost. Eight more towers of this company are not functional at night due to power outages.
